Controversial Advertising Wins Cannes Grand Prix and More: United Colors of Benetton

Unhate Campaign

Showing none of their clothing line in their advertising, the United Colors of Benetton still provokes conversations and intrigue. Five major broccoli sandwiches for that.

Their “Unhate” campaign also won a Cannes Grand Prix this week for it’s brilliant advertising, but I think it also won something more: people’s interest.

Yes, advertising is supposed to get you to look at a product or service, but the United Colors of Benetton gets you to look beyond their clothes and at a new idea. Unhate.

Dang. A cultural revolution that is associated with it’s product? Maybe the United Colors of Benetton should get a second round of sandwches.
